WEDDINGS
MAZAL TOV! Finding a life partner is no easy task. In our tradition, the rabbis teach it is harder for God to make matches than it was to split the sea. So really- yashar koah (more power to you)! We can’t wait to support you in sanctifying your relationship under the chuppah (wedding canopy), and to celebrate with you and your family.
A few important questions before we get started:
Do you have a date for your wedding?
If so, what day of the week is your simha/celebration?
Please note we officiate on any day of the week except for Shabbat. We also do not officiate on Jewish holidays— so you’ll want to check a Jewish calendar to confirm.
Additionally, it is traditional to not have weddings or other celebrations during the three weeks leading up to Tisha B’Av.
Now that we’ve gotten that out of the way, here’s a little about the process:
We ask that before we meet, you come to The Kitchen for Shabbat. Since Shabbat is so indicative of what we do, it is a great way to see if The Kitchen is a “match” for you. Please introduce yourselves!
One of the rabbis will meet with you at least three times leading up to your wedding. Why? So that we can all get to know each other better (nothing worse than a rabbi who doesn’t know you as a couple), to plan the ceremony, discuss ketubah options, and to focus on what matters during what can be a stressful time.
