Freedom School Teacher

PART-TIME POSITION

The Kitchen is looking to hire compelling, relational teachers for the 2019-2020 school year.

The Kitchen’s Freedom School is a family-based learning program that emphasizes the teaching of Torah, prayer and guiding students to bring justice to the world. We aim to create immersive educational experiences for our students and families, as well as to combine our learning with the greater Kitchen community. The Freedom School meets primarily on Shabbat, 2-3 sessions per month, in addition to Jewish holidays and Sundays of service.   

We are looking for inspired and inspiring teachers who:

  • create meaningful relationships with students

  • love teaching Torah, prayer and doing justice work

  • are exited to experiment with creative forms of Jewish education in a non-traditional setting

  • embody collaboration, flexibility, and commitment to success 

  • are eager to be a part of a spiritual, musical, and relationship-centered Jewish community

Bachelor’s degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Young Family Jewish Song Leader

PART-TIME POSITION

The Kitchen is looking to hire compelling, relational early childhood Jewish music teacher/songleader.

Kitchen Playground is a community within The Kitchen, an independent Jewish spiritual community in San Francisco. We work to provide engaging, meaningful opportunities for families to do Jewish together. We are looking for inspired and inspiring early childhood educators to help design and run play-based, child-centric Shabbat experiences - through music, sensory exploration, art, food, stories and movement.

This is a part-time position for 2-3 Shabbats per month (Friday nights, Saturday mornings) and some Jewish holidays. There is room to grow in the role as well! We are looking for an experienced early childhood Jewish music teacher or songleader who:

  • Loves leading music with young children and families

  • Has experience teaching music or leading singing with young children

  • Created meaningful relationships with students

  • Has some Jewish or Hebrew content knowledge

  • Is eager to experiment with new songs and music, and integrate them into our existing traditions - someone who wants to help build a Jewish music program

  • Is excited to be part of a spiritual, musical, and relationship-centered Jewish community.
