FUNERALS

Levaya, the Hebrew word for funeral, means ‘to accompany.’ Our role as a Kitchen community is to accompany you and your family during this time. If a loved one has died, and a funeral and burial will take place in the Bay Area, one of our rabbis will be there to help you through the process and to officiate.

If the funeral will be taking place outside of the Bay Area, we will support you during that time by phone, zoom, facetime— we’re here. And when you return home to the Bay Area, the rabbis and the 1/60th team at The Kitchen can help you plan a shiva (first week of mourning) and/or sheloshim (memorial event on the 30th day after the funeral).

If you want to speak about end-of-life planning and/or Jewish mourning practices whether or not there has been a death, we are here and ready to talk.

Please email Rabbi Meyer with any questions at jessicakatemeyer@thekitchensf.org.
